Happy 4th of July! We're hoping to spend some time outside today. I'd like to say we'd be eating on our patio, but we've got a deck DIY project going on right now. Hopefully, I can share some photos next week! After I shared the reveal of my completed Patio Makeover last Monday, it just seemed appropriate to invite you right inside, from the Patio... to the Sunroom! Please, do come in.
My Sunroom has been almost-complete for quite a while. I was waiting for a swag light to hang in the corner and recently at the Peddlar's Mall, I found the perfect one.
Part of the reason I chose to use blue in the Patio Makeover is because of the blue in our Sunroom. And it's funny, now the Sunroom seems so much more finished, because we've completed the Patio. It feels like one big connected space.
It isn't a big room by any means; but it is super functional. Our dining hutch lives here in order to free up some space in the kitchen {this was Erica's idea -- she's the best blog buddy!}. Back in January, I took the doors off the hutch and filled it with our white china. This piece of furniture houses all of our china, party supplies, serving utensils, paper products and table linens.
Since the Sunroom is directly off the Kitchen/Dining area and the Patio, it's the perfect spot for all those entertaining items. You can see some of our dishes, tablecloths and napkins in action here.
Next to the hutch is a simple little reading nook. It is a Sunroom, after all, so you must be able to sit by the window and enjoy the sunlight. The chair is Land's End for Sears. It was on clearance and only cost $80. We picked up one for our bedroom too!
The pillow cover was Land's End clearance as well. It's no longer on the website but I think it cost around $20. That's a bit pricier than I would normally pay, but the navy detailing is actually all embroidery and it is of superb quality.
The green throw was a wedding gift and the Kentucky Print in the corner was from Erica {told you, great blog buddy.}
Now, if you've read our blog long, you may have already guessed it. That basket isn't for looks, it's for storage {though it's pretty good looking, too}.
Some of the toys our little boy plays with out on the deck are hidden inside this big basket. It fits just perfectly under the chair. I picked it up at the HWY 127 Yard Sale. A sturdy, inexpensive, basket is ALWAYS a good purchase at a Yard Sale/Thrift Store/etc. My husband can tell you that I do live by this rule.
The hanging bottles were one of the first projects I blogged about. They were a wedding keepsake that became a window treatment and probably one of my favorite DIY projects in our home.
The round seagrass rug was $11 from Home Goods and it completes that little corner.
The other corner is full of functional storage too. Our patio seat
cushions are hidden underneath the white tablecloth, ready to head out
onto the deck. The decorative boxes hold some more outdoor items as well; like citronella candles, matches, hooks for our hammock, etc.
The hanging tray depicts the Belle of Louisville and was picked up at the Flea Off Market in Louisville. I made the "Go Outside" DIY artwork with basic pen and paper!
The door is painted in the same color as our front Entry.
Somehow, this post got really long for such a small little space. But it is one of my favorite spots in our home. I hope you love it too!
