You didn't know it, since we can schedule our posts ahead of time {sneaky, I know} but I was at Disney last week. It just so happens that September kicks off Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party and we had to attend this holiday celebration. It was so much fun -- trick-or-treating through the Magic Kingdom and special Halloween events, like the Boo-to-You Parade.
We read a bit beforehand and found out everyone dresses up, not just the kiddos -- so it was time to come up with a family costume.
We wanted to wear something creative and DIY with the condition that it had to be cool and comfortable since it's Florida and HOT. A few of my friends that are Disney experts gave suggestions -- and I can't take any credit for the idea -- my friend Mandy suggested the Mouseketeers, and I loved it!
Our little guy loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse whose theme song includes spelling M-I-C-K-E-Y-M-O-U-S-E just like the original Mickey Mouse Club. So, it was a perfect choice for a costume!
So simple to do too!

I googled the
Mouseketeer logo and re-created it completely from items I already had on hand.
It was my first time using an iron-on transfer kit but it worked pretty well and it was so fun to see the t-shirts come together. One note though, I felt I had to do a lot more ironing than it instructed. When I didn't do extra ironing, the transfer wouldn't peel off completely.
The cast members at Disney seemed to really like our costumes -- probably because they are kind of "Vintage Disney" and nostalgic.
