Bye-Bye Coral

I like coral as an accent color and have seen it used beautifully in some dining rooms. Like this:

But I just don't feel the same way about the coral walls in our dining room {and hallway... and stairwell}.

We're just more of a neutrals, blues and greens type of family.

I switched the floral valences out for grey curtains earlier this spring.

Then, just yesterday, tested out a soft grey from Porter Paint, called Dover Gray.

The GISLEV Rug from IKEA may not stay; but there will be plenty of grey and other neutrals in this room. I'm not huge into seasonal decorating; but I do like to be able to decorate the dining room... or fix it up for a birthday party.

A neutral color palette gives us that flexibility.

Besides a new light fixture, some paint and the curtains, much of what we'll be using in this room are items we already own. Last night we moved in one of my favorite pieces of furniture {which was bought second-hand, of course!} and today we've got some more painting on the agenda.
