Moss Covered Letter "Wreath" for the Front Door

Our front door has been feeling a little naked since Christmas. I only have one spring/summer wreath and its color palette isn't great for our new house {yes, we've lived here over a year... when should I stop calling it 'new'?}.

Covering a letter with moss isn't a new idea and you can find plenty of examples on Pinterest. I've always liked the look; but hadn't given it a try. You might remember that I've been trying to avoid "collecting" big hard-to-store wreaths by reinventing items that I already own and using natural materials.

Well, this little craft fit the bill for both.

We already had the letter "G" on hand and it wasn't being used anywhere, so that was a simple choice. I picked up the preserved moss at Joann's {around $4-$5} and then got to work with my glue gun.

I just worked in small sections... adding glue and then attaching the moss... until it was all covered.

I'll tell you something though --  sometimes I would rather paint an entire room than do a "quick" craft. The whole project took less than an hour {counting the time to take care of a fussy baby}, so it's not like it was lengthy. I'm just not patient, I guess, thinking it should take 15 minutes -- at most -- ahead of time. However, that's just not realistic, because cleaning up all the tiny pieces of crumbly moss takes a good 5-10.

All that extra cleaning was worth it, though, because I really like it hanging on our mint green front door.

How about you? Do you like big projects or small crafts? What is your favorite type of project? I think painting is the most relaxing for me.
